I Libri

I libri che mi lasciano senza fiato sone quelli che quando li hai finiti vorresti che l'autore fosse tuo amico per poterlo chiamare tutte le volte che ti va.

LIVING

So many people wonder why things may happen in their lives, the become bitter and decide that the rest of their lives will just be the same over and over. Many do not realize that they can change how they are effected. You can never change the past you can only create the present and therefore also the future.

One must take the negative and turn it to positive. This my not sound as simple as it is said but if take careful consideration of it, honestly what comes out of the negative? What comes out of the postitive? It can be said that the postive attracts the positive.

Somethings I always knew, some things I have only discovered now, at this moment in my life, I wonder, maybe is has all been something I have always knew. Limits are only set by each individual, you are the only person who can set your limits.

Speak English?

I am so happy to share my new site with everyone!

For four years now, we have been living in the country-side of Italy. I continue to find it amazing how large of adaily influence the English language has on Italian life.

Whether it be TV, music, or film. The root of most if not all entertainment is English.

As an American I ask myself why would Italian people be interested in

learing the English language?

English is an international language, speaking english fluently

will boost your job perspects, and when one travels it is the international common language.

Facts:

*400 million people speak english vocabulary as a mother-tongue

*English is the most widely used languae for international business

*700 million people speak english as a foreign language

So much traffic and helicopters flying over our house!

Why was there so much traffic, helicopters, and security out the wazoo? Our little town of Pennabilli had a visitor on Sunday, June the 19th, 2011.

It was not ordinary visitor, it was Pope Benedetto XVI!

It was interesting to see the Pope in front of the church were my husband and I exchanged our wedding vows, and the church where both our boys were baptized.

It was a historical day!!

Masks from San Leo

These are some photos of masks displayed in the Fortress San Leo. I will post later photos of my trip in the amazing historical Fortress.

This masks made of metal were used mainly for women who were said to be "loud" and eccentric men, condemned to be ridiculed in public. The most extravagant forms, often faces or body parts of animals were masks that were fitted which contained spikes or other elements and often caused severe laceration to the mouth and tongue.

This mask was used as a device to keep one silent in the trial or torture victims, they were gagged in this way and also burned at the stake.

This mask is made of leather, it was used to protect doctors from plague when visiting infected patients. It contains two holes for the nostrils, the eyes are protected by two small windows, inside the beak the doctor would place balsamic perfumes and ointments.
